This is an American Antique quilt made circa 1890's-1920's. This piece has been beautifully hand quilted and hand sewn. It is overflowing with rare and valuable indigo fabrics. When we came upon this quilt the previous owners had left a note detailing when they purchased the piece. L. Arlene Miller from Carlisle, Pa found this quilt at Harold Mott's sale in 1974 for $17.00. This owner was very impressed with the fabrics and quilting, and 50 years later, so are we! This is a Pennsylvania gem! The quilt then traveled to the Iowa State Historical Museum. We have included the museum's markings in the inside of the quilt. In our opinion this quilt is soft, thin, light weight, and has a very flattering drape! In our opinion the quilt is Lady Lancaster 10/10. Please note: there is a little bit of sun bleaching throughout the quilt. This does not affect the integrity of the fabrics and adds an Ombre to the indigo. There is one large zig zag mend. We have included an iphone photo of this at the end of the listing. Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years old and are perfectly worn. We believe this is what makes them special and is part of their charm. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend only spot cleaning if necessary.
